A Mini-Blip Meet........
...........and couldn't really have had a nicer morning for it!
Miss Elephoto, who is the Sister of Blipbear and, I think, a friend of Kiwi, has been staying with fellow Blipper, Jenceng, for a while and is ready to resume her travels again, so Jennie and I arranged to meet for the handover this morning in Spilsby, where Jennie is visiting her Mother (Mums Birthday. - Happy Birthday, Jennies' Mum!)
This is a small market town with the usual little shops and interesting buildings and associations for many years associated with sheep and wool production . The market place is a long drawn out rectangle with a bronze statue on a pedestal of John Franklin by Charles Bacon 1861y).
It was very nice to meet Jennie - and the takeover went very smoothly though I thought Miss Elephoto looked just a little apprehensive at first. She is now relaxing with some of MY elephants - they seem to be getting along o.k although all mine are of the ornament type - no soft toy type!
Once she has settled in, I will ask her to pose for some group pictures - so, hopefully, you will meet her in the next few days.
Whilst in Spilsby, I took this picture of St.James Church
which stands on the corner of Church Street and Boston Road. It was built around the beginning of the 14th. Century in the traditional Spilsby sandstone of the area. However, it has been altered many times. Apart from the tower - (as you may notice) - it was covered with Ancaster stone in 1879.
The church contains memorials of the Willoughby de Eresby family, of Sir John Franklin and his two brothers, Major James Franklin and Sir Willingham Franklin. The six bells date from 1744. I noticed the Church clock appears not to be working - when I arrived, I was a bit put out as it looked as if I was about 2 and a half hours late!
Anni and Himself are safely back from their holiday - seems to have had a really good one - I am sure one of the first things they do will be to collect Shadow from the kennels - he will go all daft as usual!
Bright and sunny though rather windy and quite warm - 65 Deg F. - and it will be great if it stays like it is here tomorrow!
Enjoy!
