Beach Huts, England
Beach huts are a development on from the Victorian bathing boxes that were wheeled down to the waterline to protect the modesty of Victorian ladies, who could emerge from the box, then just descend the steps in their bathing suits and into the water, without gentlemen seeing too much.
After WWII, when all British beaches were closed, there was a great resurgence of the British seaside and the heyday of beach huts, alongside donkeys, 99s and Punch and Judy shows.
There are still many beach huts for hire or sale around Britain.
