Blowing in the Wind
We started of the morning with a frost and clear sky's but by lunch time the wind picked up and we have had really strong gusts since. It looked like it was going to rain but past over dropping a few spots.
My leg isn't feeling too bad after my fall, just a little bruised and a bit stiff. My back it a little sore.. it was my hand that seems to get the most damage and are very sore. Apart from that I am OK just a few bruises and grazes.
This rose was taken of one of my neighbours blowing in the wind.. was lucky to catch it OK.
I thought you may like to to see this this video made by Sundeep Rai has made to raise funds for Christchurch. Sundeep Rai a student at the University of Washington in Seattle and contacted me a while back wondering if he could use some of my images of Christchurch as he will be skiing the Southern Alps to raise money for the community of Christchurch.
I just received the the finished project today and found it very moving and interesting and thought you may like to see it to. All the still shots of Christchurch were all taken by me.
History and Meaning of White Roses
Without vibrant colour to upstage it, the formal, structural beauty of the rose is showcased to its best advantage in a bouquet of elegant white roses. Suited to reverent occasions, the white rose is a fitting way to honour a friend or loved one in recognition of a new beginning or a farewell. Their pure colour conveys respect, pays homage to new starts and expresses hope for the future.
Historically, the white rose symbolised innocence and purity, which is how it became associated with weddings and bridal bouquets. Way back in 14th-century England the white rose was the heraldic sign of the Duke of York who faced off with the red-rose Lancaster family, giving the renowned War of Roses its name. Today, the white rose has retained its associations with both pure love and formal ceremony, making it a many-purposed recognition of unions and ceremonial occasions, such as anniversaries, christenings and graduations.
