Between fen and mountains

Roses and vines

The market shopping was done early. I can never resist the fruit and veg. The salad leaves I always buy from the same Dutchman who picks them the night before. The leaves are untreated and always last a week, unlike the ones that you buy in supermarket gas filled packets that go off within a couple of days. His strawberries were irresistible and the basket ended up with more than I had intended. The white asparagus is for tonight along with lemon sole and squid. Coffee in the square followed. This afternoon I read Asterix chez les Bretons which I hadn't looked at for years. I love it when the British stop their battle with the Romans for their obligatory cup of tea. Lots of national stereotypes but great fun!
