Berneray

Today's the day ........................ for budget accommodation

This is the hostel on Berneray that provided our beds for the night - and gave us somewhere to cook our evening meal.

It also offered us the chance to share a walk on a pristine, sandy beach with the knots, dunlins and oystercatchers where the occasional gannet or tern dived in just offshore - and a panoramic view northwards to the mountains of Harris.

It put on a changing lightshow of the greenest turquoise sea against the purple hills and the sun in a blue, blue sky - alternating with an almost black thunderous mass of clouds from which the rain would pour for a few minutes. Oh - and then it would lay on a perfect rainbow just for a bit of contrast.

Not bad for budget rate accommodation ....................
