A nurse's voyage!

By helenharbon

Very sad goodbye to the Philippines :'(

And so it is our last few hours in Iloilo after 5 absolutely amazing weeks. It is extremely early in the morning here(3:40 to be exact) and we are going to the airport to catch the plane to manila!

This past week has by far been both our favourites. We stayed with the most beautiful family who are part of an indigenous tribe on the Guimmeras Island; living with them and enjoying the mango festival all week. We met their friends and family and were treated like royalty all week. They were the happiest and loveliest people we have had the pleasure of meeting and we will take with us so many wonderful memories from watching the Mr Guimmeras 2014 beauty pagent to finishing the 5km colour fun run with practically the whole village. We even rode on top of a jeepne and attempted the all you can eat mango challenge in which we ate 6 each - MANGO BABIES!!
It was extremely hard to say bye to the family and to Guimmeras which shows what an impact this week has had on both myself and Sarah and what brilliant fun its all been.

This whole trip has been mind blowing (good word), we both have loved every second and have met some wonderful people both in the work the world house and in the hospitals and the different trips we've been on. The memories we have made will last a very long time and i hope to share with some of you the stories we have made.
Thank you for reading these blogs i hope you've enjoyed them as much as i have enjoyed writing them!

And so with a heavy heart i say a final goodbye to this bloody good adventure!
Over and out
