Our five mile world

By hazyheap

Tomorrow's breakfast!

Our hens continue to lay despite the freezing conditions and the fact that we have moved them to our polytunnel for protection from the wintry blasts. It's a new environment to them and one in which they are enjoying, I think.

The tiny egg on the left is the last one our little bantam laid before being killed by a marauding pine marten. In total, the pine marten killed over thirty hens in our village and what upset me most was the fact that it didnt appear to eat any of its spoils but seemed to kill for killings sake.

This old egg box (over 100 years old) was given to Bill many years ago by an old forester and it taked pride and place in our kitchen!

More snow predicted tomorrow. Brr Brr!
