Essie To The Rescue

It looked like a hopeless night for a blip. I killed about an hour and a half after I got home from work watching “The French Connection”. I had never seen it and for some reason felt compelled to do so. I’m a huge Gene Hackman fan. I've thought for some time I should probably make an effort to see some of the classics, like “Raging Bull” and “On The Waterfront” for instance. I have no idea why, but I just think I should be able to say I saw them.

Anyway, I ended up with little prospect for a blip but since I had to go to the store I was pretty sure I was going to come home with some flavor of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and I could blip that. Even the thought of it made me feel guilty both because I knew I’d eat it and I also knew it would be a really sad blip. I did indeed come home with Ben and Jerry, but on my way I detoured down to Marine Park and ran into Essie. Her owner told me that she loves to ride on her little bike platform. Occasionally she gets off at an intersection but is happy to get right back on.

I’m not very good at talking to strangers but I summoned up my courage and asked about Essie. Some blippers are really, really good at it (like Mar In Urbana or MaryJo for instance), but I’m not very comfortable approaching people. I don’t know why and it’s too late to try and figure it out. I’ve been like that my whole life. If there's an animal involved though I have a much easier time of it. I've always communicated better with animals than people.

So, thanks for being there, Essie.
