Garden Bug - What Am I ?

Another fine day , warm and sunny for most of the day, great after a night of torrential rain. We spent the day working in the garden . John kept finding wee beasties for me to photograph including a beautiful purple beetle, a tiny spider , green and gold and this strange but really interesting patterned bug. I couldn't identify it in any of my bug books.

It looks as if it is ready to leap from one cane to another, practising for the Commonwealth Games ?

Large is worth a look for all the wonderful detail, that is , if you dare.
