Squatters!
After all the landscapes, seascapes and stones, my next few blips might very well be birds, as we have returned to find our garden has been taken over by nests.
Slight exaggeration, but just today I watched two House Martins building a nest in one of the windows – flying in and out with bits of mud and we have a Blackbird’s nest with very young birds in it . . . and then we have the Spotted Flycatcher.
In recent years we have often had a Flycatcher in the garden and have enjoyed watching it waiting for passing flies and then flying in and back with lightning speed to catch them – a nice sign of summer. We haven’t seen one for a while, but just now one has appeared and we are very hopeful, as the place it seems to want to be all the time is around the nest box that lost its lid that is carefully designed with an open front for Flycatchers.
Not the sharpest of pictures, as I had a high shutter speed to catch the House Martins and then this handsome thing just landed.
