Inferno
My sister and family arrived yesterday and we had been saving a trip up the Tokyo Sky Tree so we could all go together. Except dad who doesn't do heights. As it was a grey, rainy day we were literally up in the clouds after speeding 350 metres skyward in a matter of seconds. The view of Tokyo is spectacular, the scale of the city even more impressive from above. As we stopped in the cafe for some high tea (boom boom) the clouds immersed the view which was disconcerting. Even more disconcerting was this sight when the clouds cleared, a pillar of thick grey smoke drawing the eye to the inferno that was creating it. The flames contrasting with the neutral colours around them. This picture is zoomed in but hopefully helps to convey the spread of the fire. It was very strange watching from so high up as the flames took hold, terrifying in a powerless way. We just hoped that there were no casualties and that everyone was safe.
