Tepache
This is a very traditional drink of the region. It is pulque (slightly fermented liquid from maguey - an agave cactus) mixed with panela (sugar cane) and water. I was too cowardly to drink the whole cup. A few sips were enough for me!
This tepache offering came along with the festivities of the inauguration of the new basketball/soccer/volleyball court on the top of the hill. Live band music, fireworks, tamales, coffee, bread, tomato-egg soup, horchata, mezcal, and many short games of sport ensued!
