The Hungry Gap

These are all that remain of last year's leeks. I also used the last of the potatoes.

Combined with some home made duck stock it all went on to produce a very nice soup. I had run out of last year's garlic and so a hint of additional flavour was provided by some asparagus.

This gastro fest has a serious side in that we must not forget that a couple of centuries ago if you had not provided sufficient food in store then you would go hungry.

Now one just nips off down to the supermarket!
