Take fright, take flight

Oystercatchers are real characters. Chattering, marching around, busy busy, smartly dressed. But they are skittish (who can blame them with a large dog on their patch). All of a sudden wings and feathers explode into flight. The air throbs to their beating wings, warning calls pierce the tranquility. My fault. Walking in their habitat. But soon enough they alight on the other side of the estuary, all of 30 yards further away, but some how they know that Kelso won't follow them over water. A quick shuggle of feathers and they are back to chattering, marching, being smartly dressed.
