King of the Castle

I had a welcome hook up with daughter Rosie this morning via Skype. With web cams I was able to show the missing birthday card to her which I hadn't sent because we had expected to be with her today had not the weather decreed otherwise.
She was also able to take me on a virtual tour of her new house and then let me see the two little cousins interacting. Isn't technology a wonderful thing?

We indulged ourselves in a diet busting cooked breakfast at Dobbie's this morning.
Having arrived in a flurry of snow, we left in blue skies and sunshine and decided to go home via Musselburgh and Portobello. The difference of about 5miles towards the coast meant there was no snow lying there and one could have thought the whole snowy scenario to the south a figment of one's imagination.

However by the time we arrived back in Newington, the next hail/sleet blizzard was in full swing and the world was white once more.

His Lordship has taken it upon himself to keep the castle drive clear of snow and is therefore locked in a battle with nature that he is not going to win. No sooner does he clear the path and stand at the window to admire his handiwork, than the next snow shower covers it up again and he's out with his broom and shovel.
I expect he's using up all the breakfast calories......... while I....... Can any one tell me how many calories I use up in taking some photos, agonising over a choice of one, and then write a blip? On reflection don't bother telling me!

I liked the regal stance of this young seagull who was being the king of his rock beside a dormitory of sleeping oyster catchers at Joppa.

Oh and before I forget - Happy Birthday Rosie!
