The Testament of Mary

Tonight we went to see Fiona Shaw in The Testament of Mary by Colm Toibin. The performance begins with the audience invited on stage to visit "Mary" in a glass shrine, then she walks around the stage with a live vulture on her arm until everyone is back in their seats and the play can properly begin. It's an intense 80 minutes, leavened with humour and surprising use of props. What an amazing actor she is!
