Caged warrior

I was speaking today at the Scottish Child Law Centre conference on the Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011. A good event with some fascinating and detailed discussions on how the law is getting applied in practice and some of the challenges emerging.

The event was held in the Royal College of Physicians on Queen Street. On my way there I passed the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and saw this statue of William Wallace at the entrance. While the mesh to keep the pigeons is understandable - indeed necessary - it seems to diminish the statue's power.
