Lovely Langstrothdale
This is a very quick posting as we are sitting in a pub in Hawes, Wensleydale on an unexpected away day (and night) with friends waiting to have our evening meal.
We have followed the River Wharfe into Upper Wharfedale and seen signs of camping and parking virtually all the way for the forthcoming Grand Depart of the Tour de France in July.
There are lots of signs of it here in Hawes as this too is part of the route.
This shot is where we stopped to have a sandwich alongside the river. It is a favourite place of mine from childhood. Several families would meet up here for a picnic or quite often to camp in the days when free camping was allowed in such places. We had a wonderful time playing in the river.
I will write more tomorrow when back home to thank everyone for the wonderful comments on my 1500th blip yesterday.
