The Holly bears a flower.....

We all know the line from "The Holly and the Ivy", I guess ...."the holly bears a berry, as red as any blood", but of course fruit has to be preceded by flowers, and I think this is is the first time I have noticed holly flowers. They are very small - les than half a finger-nail in size and therefore easily overlooked - especially high on a tree. These are on a trimmed holly hedge at eye level and have just appeared, so therefore we can expect berries in the winter. Pretty little, white, modest flowers.
