How do I swallow this?

This is our very friendly blackbird that loves grapes.

Each visit to the garden he checks out this wall for the grapes and if there are none he gives you a long stare as if to say - come on guys more grapes I'm not on a diet.

When he first got a liking to grapes he did try to swallow them whole so we had to cut them in half for fear he might choke himself. He now takes a whole grape and first splits the skin with his beak to get at the soft fruit.
