A Break

A colourful symbol of springtime which I really look forward to seeing every year. I love the dynamic orange wing tips, dappled green underside and speckled eyes which seem to give them such character.

Always on the look out I was roaming the garden and this male orange tip flitted over my shoulder. In hot pursuit then I dashed after it hoping it would land as previous ones lately have just done a fly-by. All legs fair and square on the petals yet managing to look very dainty it wanted to drink in the dew on the flower which was giving it a break from patrolling it's territory. Me too as I felt a coffee calling - great minds and all that :)
