The boat that art built
Day 4, Halifax Nova Scotia: My sister and I went to the Halifax market in the morning followed by a walk along the Halifax harbour. I picked this photo because I was so intrigued by the art project that was taking shape in this shed. Basically they are building a boat that will eventually be a floating art gallery out in the Halifax harbour with rotating exhibitions. I spoke to one of the guys that is coordinating the project and he was quite happy to tell me all about it. Anyone can drop by and help build the boat as well and learn the skills of boat building. In effect it serves as an art gallery and a piece of artwork in itself. I really enjoyed the collaborative aspect of the project and the unusual nature of the future placement of the gallery as it will at some point be floating in the harbour. I only wish I could go back to see this little boat gallery doing what it was meant to do! Once again it was a wonderful sunny day in Halifax and my last day before continuing on my journey to Moncton NewBrunswick where my parents live.
