Spent another day sitting in the sun in the park, reading the book I'm supposed to be studying for my next exam before heading to one of my last classes of the year. Can't believe its all over so soon! Headed to colonne in the evening to meet up with some friends for drinks before going to Alcatraz., colonne was more packed than I think I've ever seen it! Now I'd heard that Alcatraz was quite far away and therefore prepared that it may take us a while to get there. But even then I was not prepared for the journeys I faced that night. Most of our group had gone on ahead but a couple of us stayed to wait for Katie, which meant we missed the last metro. We weren't too bothered though as we figured we could split a taxi between the four of us, so started to walk towards the Duomo thinking that would be the prime location to pick one up. We were starting to get slightly worried when not a single one passed us on the way, then when we got the rank there was a huge queue and not a taxi in sight. We waited for ages, and were just about to give up and go home when it was finally our turn, so we got there eventually. Although I must admit, the club itself was not that brilliant as the venue is really far too big and the music was a really confusing mix. But it was such a nice group of people so we still had a great time. However if we thought the journey there had been pretty bad, that was nothing compared to the journey back. Of course there were still no taxis around anywhere and its too far away to walk, so we figured we'd have to wait for public transport to start running agin. Given it was already about 5am, we didn't really have that long to wait. Unfortunately we weren't entirely sure which bus/tram was the best to take as we all live in different areas... We originally planned to take the bus, managed to squeeze on one which was absolutely packed then realised there was another one right behind so ran off to get on that one instead. Of course it went right past us just as our original bus left. At this point there was just four of us left so we started walking in what we hoped was the right direction, as the sky slowly got lighter and lighter. Eventually managed to catch a tram to Porta Genova by which time it was nearly 7 and broad daylight...
