Having a whale of a time

There I was down on the beach, preparing to take pictures of the sunset and this giant leaps out of the waves right in front of me.

The Southern Right wales have definitely arrived for their annual loll in the comparatively warm waters of False Bay and eventually, mating. This chap and his mate didn't stay around for long and this shot of an excessively barnacled head was the best I could manage.
