Thought you’d like another picture of seaweed, taken on this morning’s walk to the clubhouse (toffee apple muffin, since you ask), again managing to dodge the showers and get home dry.
Finn has helpfully positioned himself in shot, to give a sense of scale. Although admittedly that only helps if you know what size Finn is.
This is kelp. I’ve just discovered that the thing it uses at the end of its stalk to attach itself to rocks is called a ‘holdfast’. A wonderful word, and according to the online Oxford English Dictionary, first used in this sense in 1841.
