Eurovision Song Contest 2014

………………..A glimpse into Ann’s past!!!!


My very lovely owner, Ann, is 55 years old. OK, I’ve said it, I’ve admitted how old she is – and now she might have to kill me for divulging such sensitive information.

She’s sat me in front of the TV so she can Blip me watching the ‘Eurovision Song Contest.’

I don’t want to watch the Eurovision Song Contest & neither does she.

Ann gave up watching the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ in the late 1970’s when she realised that socialising on a Saturday night was a lot more fun than sitting in front of a TV listening to Terry Wogan???

However, we thought we’d give you a glimpse into Ann’s past??? Obviously not too much of a glimpse because that would be divulging far too much information. LOL!!!!

The very first time that Ann became aware of the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ was in 1967 when she was 8 years old. She’d been allowed to watch all the early evening TV shows re choosing a song for Britain.

………………But when it came to the actual show……………………… her parents had deemed it far too late. It was probably only about 9pm????

Anyway Ann was sent off to bed and wasn’t told until the following morning that Sandie Shaw had won with 'Puppet on a string'.

From then on, Ann was allowed to watch the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’. But for at least a couple of years, she had to go to bed first and then be woken up to watch it??? Was it really on that late – Ann’s parent’ were quite strict re bedtimes???

Anyway from 1968 until 1972 the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ was the main TV event in Ann’s life.

In 1972, when Ann was 13, the Eurovision Song Contest was held in Edinburgh (where Ann lived). And by then Ann was madly in love with Marty Kristian from the New Seekers. She was one of the screaming teenagers that stood for hours outside the hotel they were staying in.

The New Seekers came second in the Eurovison Song Contest that year with 'Beg, Steal or Borrow.

……………After that Ann lost interest in the ‘Eurovision Song Contest.’
