Lock 3

This is the centre of Ardrishaig, it's a village built around the entrance to the Crinan Canal. The canal is a great amenity for the village and is used a lot by locals for walking, cycling jogging etc.

It was a lovely warm sunny day here today, not as forecast. Both children had friends round so the house was busy. I managed quite a few photos while wandering with the boys in the woods and down to the beach. The boys said the woods were too midgy but they had fun throwing stones and looking for quartz on the beach. They came back with pockets and teashirts loaded with white stones.

I liked this shot because it shows what Ardrishaig is really like and not the horrible view from the road that most people see. It is not a pretty village so few second homes here and I always think of it as the place where the workers live and it has it's own charms. Victorian houses side by side with council houses, there are no separate areas all are mixed together. It supports a couple of shops and a primary school, for everything else we go the 3 miles to Lochgilphead or the 100 miles to Glasgow
