Owls
I've had an exciting and tiring day being a tourist in Leeds and then going to the last session if the Facing Africa meeting. I'm now about to go to a barbecue. Not used to this pace of life...
The coat of arms of Leeds City is a fleece supported by owls and there are owls all around the place, in fact there is an Owl Trailwhich visits 25 locations across the city.
These golden owls in Millennium Square were made in 1933 to provide work during the Depression.
I even went to a (theatrical) meeting of the WSPU today. Their motto is "Deeds not Words", which, spookily, is carved on the antique bookcase I bought yesterday...
