Icicles for Lease
I'm blipping early today because we are heading into a blur of activity: cooking our New Year's good luck meal,** along with pasta rustica, artisan bread, and a couple of appetizers and desserts for the family. My Taxman and I are watching our two little O's (Owen & Olivia) for New Year's eve - over night (wish us luck), so the cooking/baking should be done before they arrive tomorrow evening some time. I'm also in the midst of making a few batches of soap to replenish inventory from the Christmas sell-out. Whew...back in work mode I go.
I know why they can't seem to 'lease these icicles,' it's because they're darn dangerous, that's why. I stopped for just a minute to take a picture and stuff started sliding off the rooftop. Looks like one of the big icicles recently broke off too. Hope no one was injured.
**Note: my mother always made Hoppin' John 'good luck food' for New Year's Day. I don't know how she got started on the tradition since she was from northern Ohio, not the south. It's a southern tradition that we've continued and our kids have had all their lives. Must be why they're so lucky.
