Back in Amman and right back to Arabic.
The white board above shows one of the main lessons in Arabic I had today and trying to learn all about case endings. In Arabic, everything is voweled or have a different ending to the words depending on where it is in the sentence, its significance, if its definite or indefinite, who the audience is, who is speaking, gender, etc.
It's really complicated and has so many rules and tiny aspects to it. Its been really hard to learn and it is something that has to be learned through steps in a way in order to try to really understand it. Its always been one of the hardest parts for me. My teacher explains it pretty well. It comes down to just trying to remember all of the tiny little concepts that go with it in order for me to vowel correctly or place the right case ending on it. Good times.
I don't want to jinx it, but this week was a good week for me in Arabic. I feel good about my progression in speaking and was able to notice that my speed has picked up just a tiny bit and my ability to think in Arabic is getting a tiny bit quicker as well. Fingers crossed it keep going this way. I have my Mid-term on Sunday.
An awesome weekend of intensive Arabic studying and thesis writing for 2 days straight is ahead of me. Yep...I know how to have fun!!
