Dog walkers, dustbin men and the devout…

…and that’s without mentioning all the market stalls all round the square, selling everything from fish to fruit to clothes to … well, everything. While some sweep and some shop, there’s always a group praying round a small shrine in the middle.

I didn’t intend to buy much, as I wanted to save my energy for painting and decorating, but as always, wound up carrying home a few kilos of fruit and veg. Then back to the grindstone. My attitude to do-it-yourself has matured. In a word – don’t. If you don’t cure its rickets first, a rickety table will still be a rickety table, however beautifully you paint it. Get out and buy, it’ll save you time, temper and patience! Still, I've started now, better keep going.
