A day trip to Kenilworth Castle
We were all up and ready with a lovely picnic all made and packed and ready to leave by 10am for our day trip to Kenilworth Castle. Jake was back from his moms so came too and so did my Dad. There was an event on there starting at 11am called 'Combat and Courtiers'. It was a lovely sunny morning as we made our way.
The castle looked beautiful as we parked up and walked towards it. Eva was all smiles and kicking her legs as she was pushed along by her brother (aka 'Achoo') in her new buggy.
There was lots going on... From falconry displays, to stalls demonstrating chainmail making, candle making, cookery, apothecary, there were muskets being fired, archery, the arrival of the Queen, plays etc all set in the Tudor times and all the people doing the events were all dressed in historic dress. It was a great atmosphere and it was so lovely all being out together.
At lunchtime, we laid our picnic blankets out and Eva tucked into her sandwich, pom bears, grapes and yoghurt. Then this afternoon, my dad treated us all to icecreams which Eva really enjoyed :-)
Mike, Jake and Eva started walking back to the car before me and my dad, as we wanted to have a walk round the Gatehouse. When we got back to the car, Eva was sat in the boot of the Zafira, with Mike sat across so she couldn't fall out, and she seemed to find it so exciting to be in the boot. Her excited little face when I got to her was a picture.
We all had such a happy day. Xxx
