Drench yourself in words unspoken
Boy,
You came into our lives as an unexpected gift and turned our worlds around.
Over the years you have given us untold amounts of pleasure, and pride, and laughs by the barrel load, and very few moments of concern, and despite never being the most academic of kids, you sure turned that aspect around.
This last week in North Carolina, you have shown us your new home, your new friends, and your hopes for the future, and we have loved it all. Loved it all so much, that when I woke today, and knew I had to hug you farewell, the undertoad in my stomach threatened to eat the pancakes before I had time to digest them.
I would have, if I could have stayed for longer, and laughed a while longer. Patted your head a bit more and accepted your concerned pats to my head willingly. But we had to leave.
Dad relies on my being strong, and I wasn't being strong today (Note One: Greeting in Walmart and not a thong in Sight). You were being bright as a button, but when you say "Of course I want you to stay", that only made my lip tremble even more. (Note two: Do not constantly say to your Mum, "Don't Cry" - it MAKES HER CRY).
Hey ho, we hugged, we kissed, we hugged again.
We got in the car, and I bawled my eyes out for at least 40 miles of the return journey. At least my tear stained face kept the Gangs off our tail. They weren't coming anywhere near the greeting faced Scots Wummin.
But there were somethings I forgot to tell you... apart from the "Behave", and "Keep the bathroom tidy".
Be polite.
Be kind.
Be tolerant.
Be Loving.
Work hard.
Play hard.
Write.
Write.
Write a bit more.
Write to famous writers, and famous broadcasters. You have a born talent with words, and you can and will succeed with them.
Me, Dad, Tooli, and Gran all have faith in you.
Go for it Boy.... Y0u've done so well so far and the rest is still unwritten.
Love you.
PS - KEEP YOUR BITS CLEAN,
