Paxton

Today we were visited by old friends in our Scottish Border retreat. We ate a leisurely lunch at the Allanton Inn [Recommended!] and went for a walk around Paxton.

Built in the late 18th century, Paxton House is said to be one of the finest examples of neo-Palladian architecture in Scotland and the grounds, with the Tweed, are a wonderful place for a gentle walk.

The fishing on this stretch of the Tweed still belongs to the house and each year the estate uses traditional netting techniques to catch salmon and trout.
