Grandad Hopkins' 65th Birthday xxx

We had a table booked at Beckett's for 10am this morning, where we were meeting Liza and Lorna, John and Laura, and my dad, as it was Dad's 65th birthday today!!! We were going for 'birthday breakfast'. It was so lovely to all get together. My dad looked so happy to have his children, our other halves and his grandchildren all together on his birthday. Eva was made such a fuss of by everybody, which I absolutely love and so does she. Our breakfasts arrived and Eva tucked happily into her cut up sausage, bacon, toast, beans, potato and scrambled egg, washed down with her sippycup of water.

We all came back to ours after, to give Dad his presents and cards, have coffee and 'do' our dad's cake. I brought the drinks in first, then went and lit the candles and we all sang "Happy Birthday to you" as I carried in the cake, then we all had a slice with our coffees. Eva had a bite of Grandad's and a bite of mine, she liked it a lot.

Next, my dad opened his cards and presents. I'd had the photo of Eva and I on Mother's Day printed and mounted into a frame to give off Eva. Dad also had some lovely cards and then came the piece de la resistance.... we had all clubbed together to upgrade our dad's telly and bought him a brand new 32" Samsung Smart LED TV. I'd wrapped it in lovely blue, metallic paper and silver ribbons and rosettes, which Eva had a wonderful time hiding underneath and playing "boo!" Dad was very chuffed and Mike went and set it up for him this afternoon and showed him what to do.

Eva was a proper happy little bean all day. She went down for her sleep at around 1pm in the end and slept til 3.30 gone. Then she had her lunch and played with her toys with her Daddy, while I went and got my glad rags on. I was going back out this evening with my dad and everyone for drinks at Abbie's wedding reception, to be with our dad on the evening of his birthday. Mike was staying home with Eva. I think I can safely say that Grandad really enjoyed his birthday surrounded by his family. Xxx
