Stoneacres, Otham, Kent

This is Stoneacres, a National Trust property near Maidstone. It's a perfect example of a 15th-century Wealden Hall-House, a half-timbered yeoman's house.

Our friends had departed after a large lunch, we'd cleared away and put the dishwasher on so decided to get over the excesses of the weekend with a late afternoon stroll around the local area. I've known about Stoneacres for years, passed the sign many times but never been in. Still haven't as it was around 5.30 when we passed and anyway, we hadn't bought our National Trust cards with us. It'll have to wait for another time.

It's nice to have people to visit, but it's nice when you have your place back to yourselves and entertaining is done for a while. Three dinners, two lunches, two breakfasts and all the drinks etc take their toll. We must have used every item of crockery and cutlery we possess - and more, running out of milk this morning too.

Came back from the walk and promptly had a snooze on the couch for half an hour. Felt better after that.
