Three in a row

On the way home from work, I stopped at the artificial island and as I'd expected I'd missed the hatching of the swan eggs by not being able to go and check up on them for a few days. When I arrived at the island, there was no sign of either of the adult swans and 4 of the eggs lay unhatched in the nest. There was also something white and fluffy next to them but even with the camera on full zoom I could not identify it as a cygnet so I'm not sure if it was one.

Fortunately, there were enough other photo opportunities to choose a blip from, one of them being these three Coot chicks sitting quietly in a row, waiting for one of their parents to bring them something to eat. There were also another two of their siblings in the nest with the other adult.

Thank you so much for the kind comments and stars on yesterday's white orchid blip.
