Kessock Bridge (again), and a layer of tarmac has just been laid to the South-bound carriageway. Red layer covered. They are way ahead of the works done last year. I looked back, and they did this on the 13th of June in 2013, for the North-bound carriageway. According to that Blip (and the bridge Engineer I'd met some time before it) it has/had just received its first of two 26mm coats of tarmac, to the road section.

The machine used by the Swiss company that's laying the tarmac, is sitting at the end of the bridge. It runs on rails that have been temporarily laid either side of the carriageway. They spent ages setting the rail heights accurately. An extra millimetre of tarmac would add a significant weight to the whole bridge. So the tolerances are tightly controlled.

It was raining, and I drove over to North Kessock, and walked up the hill. Took the tripod, which unfortunately seems to have cracked one of its alloy clamps. I initially couldn't figure out what was wrong. Despite the levers being locked, one leg kept slowly collapsing. Thankfully I noticed this. If the camera and lens had fallen over it could have been rather expensive! Manfrotto, the tripod manufacturer, are usually good for obtaining spares from. Fingers crossed.
