A big long walk

It’s ages since we’ve done a big long walk so today we met Ann’s friend, Angela, at Manaccan for a whole day of walking.

Walked across the fields to Frenchman’s Creek. The tide was going out so I had a good old wallow in the muddy creek. That was fun though Ann wasn’t too pleased when I jumped out of the water and had a big shake right next to her.

Walked right to the end of Frenchman’s Creek and then round to Penarvon Cove where I had a fabulous play on the beach chasing sticks with another little collie.

Next stop was lunch at the Shipwright Arms in Helford. We sat outside in the sunshine listening to jazz. Ann had lamb & Angela had monkfish and because I’d been so well behaved both of them gave me a little titbit. But do you know what?...................... Ann forgot to give me a drink and I was ever so thirsty. I knew she’d brought my special little drinking bowl & some water for me but she just said, ‘Molly, I need you to lie down under the table & behave’. I’d spotted the doggie water bowl on the way in, so on the way out I pulled Ann over to it and had such a massive drink I practically emptied it and because the pub was so busy a queue had formed behind us. Everyone was commenting on how thirsty I was and that made Ann feel really guilty. She said, ‘Molly, stop being such a drama queen. You’ve been in & out of the water all morning.’ Well, everyone knows I can’t drink sea water??!!

After lunch we walked from Helford to St Antony along the coastal path. It was sooo, sooo, pretty. Most of the walk went through woods & there were loads of bluebells & primroses and other flowers that Ann didn’t know the name of. Every time we came to a little cove I went zooming into the water for a bit of a cool down. It was fabulous. And what a lot of sunshine we've had today.

And then, when we reached the church at St Anthony, I had to go back on my lead to walk alongside Gillan Creek. By then the tide was all the way out and I was hoping to do a bit more mud wallowing. Obviously being on my lead put a stop to that!!We also saw some swans near a nest of eggs. I wanted to go chasing but Ann said the swans would attack me if I went anywhere near their eggs.

However, at the end of Gillan Creek there was a really nice clean little stream so I was allowed off my lead for a bit of a splish, splash, splosh. Then I stayed off my lead to walk through more pretty woods and back to Manaccan.

What a fantastic day we’ve had. We’ve been out for more than 8 hours and I haven’t had any sleep time today. And neither has Ann??!!

It’ll be an early night for both us I think!!!
