Giant Mystery Seedpod or Fruit or ...

I don't know what this volleyball size piece of nature is. At first I thought it was the biggest seedpod ever, but then I saw that below the mystery ball seemed to be cattail-like seedy things, so maybe the ball is some kind of fruit or something else.

The Thai friends I was with couldn't identify it either. Do you think it's a seedpod? Or something else?
