Cold and Sunny with a Chance of Ouzels

A good chance, as it turned out. I've been waiting for a bright sunny - and frosty, as it turned out - morning to get out early and go up to Stanage Edge to look for Ring Ouzels. Today was the day, and those precious few hours between dawn and the arrival of the teeming hordes, especially at the weekend, are a great time to go. I didn't have to wait long for my first sighting, but it was of a pair flying away, so I settled down to wait and was eventually rewarded as this bird started foraging and piping just below the edge.
I was surprised not to see any Curlew or Stonechat up there, and equally surprised to see a small party of Canada Geese. As always, there were plenty of Grouse and Meadow Pipits.
