Our son L had his first National 5 (O grade/level) exam today. He hasn’t said that much about it but we think he got on okay. There’s another one tomorrow.

This picture is just a wee bit along the shore from the shot yesterday and is very close to the scene of the “Appin Murder”.
I had the tripod today and juggled both the SLR and my compact so that they each got the benefit of stability, and the option to exposure bracket. The view was not one of sparkling clarity and a thin layer of mist hung over the surface of the loch. The flat calm surface did provide appealing reflections and the outlook was pleasing to the eye. What’s my point?
Both cameras were used within a few seconds of one another and recorded the image data in raw format. On paper (and cost) the SLR should be miles in front. In truth if you pixel peep, the Nikon image has loads more details as you would expect but zoomed back out and viewed the same size my best efforts on PS refining the Nikon image cannot match the corresponding compact picture, also processed from raw. It’s like the compact has been better able to see through the haze.

My blip upload has been punctuated by various telephone calls this evening. When uploaded but not finished off the whole thing usually goes pear shaped and you need to start again.
