solar eclipse
The first of the year apparently and though very cloudy, here is a little glimpse of the moon sneaking across the face of the sun.
An 'annular' eclipse meaning the Sun, Moon and Earth are in a perfect line and during which the Moon obscures all but a tiny ring of sun, appearing as a 'ring of fire' (annulus).
Those lucky ducks observing this from Antarctica will see the full annulus while down under on the west coast the cover will be up to 50%.
A real treat as the next total solar eclipse to darken the skies will be in 2068.
