Anemone hepatica

After being spoilt by all the beutiful flowering tress and plants in the UK I was ready to be depressed by the still drab spring colours here - but not so! Even though there's no green grass yet there are some lovely colours in the garden.

This blue wood anemone (hepatica) flowers before the leaves have grown with an intense cobalt blue. Great contrast to the yellow daffodils and crocuses - very patriotic!
