Castles and Palaces

After Ethan and Eden's gymnastics classes this morning, hubbie and I decided we'd take advantage of our new Historic Scotland membership and would take them out for the afternoon.

Ethan chose Blackness Castle as our first stop. It's not my favourite castle as it's more of a military garrison than a romantic Scottish Castle, but as it's beside the Forth we thought he'd like to see the boats there too. Neither Ethan nor Eden was that taken with it though. I think Ethan freaked out a bit when hubbie told him to be careful in some bits as the spaces in the railings were too wide, so Ethan then got scared he'd fall over the edge. Whereas Eden hated the dark spiral staircases in the main buildings. They were happy with the toy swords I bought them in the shop though!

Then on to Linlithgow Palace which was a much bigger hit with both of them! We didn't spend so long there, but I suspect we'll be back as they really enjoyed it.

A quick wander up Cairnpapple Hill on our way back to Bathgate followed. We dropped Eden home with Foreveryoung before we took Ethan out to dinner at the Carvery.
