Doha Days

What is the weather going to be like today I wonder?!

I watched the sun rise over Muscat this morning and feasted my eyes on the views of the hills and mountains knowing that by lunchtime we would be back on the flat desert peninsular plain that is The State of Qatar.

We really enjoyed our weekend visit to Oman. We would love to come back here again one day at a cooler time of year. It was a refreshing 37 degrees in Doha today after the heat of yesterday in Oman. Surprisingly the Tarmac does not melt but iPhone cameras do shutdown.

Muscat has heritage. It also has no high rise buildings allowing its minarets free rein on the skyline. The Omanis have enormous respect for The Sultan. So it seems does the RAF. One of our Boeing Globemaster transport jets was visiting - over 3000 miles from its home base in Oxfordshire.

A new week begins tomorrow. We are sitting on our verandah at 8pm in 35 degrees drinking mint tea and burning Omani frankincense!
