Doha Days

Follow the yellow brick road or rather the polished marble arcades, and half mile red carpet rolled out along this yellow line when the Sultan is entertaining. This is his grand Palace in the old walled city port of Muscat. The city now sprawls Istanbul like along the rolling hills and around the shell strewn beaches of the greater Muscat metropolis.

We hit the meteorological jackpot today according to BBC World tv weather maps that had us at 43 degrees! No other city on their global system was anywhere near this figure today.

We hid from the heat in the 200 year old souk. We saw the sights from comfort of an air conditioned taxi tour. Tiggy's Blip

We went back to the hotel for lunch and a virtual connection with our wee grandson. When the worst of the heat passed we walked to the beach to collect shells, luxuriate in the tepid waters of the Persian Gulf. and run away from large crabs that launched their massive claws at our unsuspecting bare feet!

Later we watched the sunset over the mosque across the road from the hotel and then joined the Indians on their day off at one of the local restaurants. The food was fantastic. The total price? £10! We'll be back!
