A Swaledale Ewe
As we have had guests in the lodge for three days I popped out to strip the beds and gather the laundry.
On the way home I stopped, looking for blips. This ewe caught my attention as out of the whole field she didn't have "a lamb at foot". This is a little unusual as most flocks round here are scanned to check pregnancy and how many lambs so that feeding and husbandry can be adjusted to suit. However being a hill breed she probably wasn't put to the Tup (Ram) until the 1st November which would normally result in lambs in the first 21 days of April. I can only assume that she is in lamb but didn't become pregnant until the second reproductive cycle.
