Apparently Cleveland Golf Club is still in Yorkshire. According to the ladies at the club 300 yards past the steel works over the river it becomes Cleveland, although some of them said it became Northumberland!

The golf club is over a hundred years old and is the only true links course in Yorkshire.Where ever it is it is a wonderful golf course with lumps and bumps and fast greens.

Could not take pics while playing my match but thankfully took this shot before we started because half way round a thick sea fret rolled in and visibility was reduced to about fifty yards. We did consider abandoning the match but decided to carry on. I now know how a partially sighted golfer must feel.

The steel works at Redcar which overlook the whole course used to employ over 3,000 people, sadly it was closed for a long period of time and when reopened the workforce was reduced to 300. Sign of the times.
