Salt and Pepper Pots
Another day taking my husband to the Waterways Museum so another photo opportunity across the marina.
The weird structures in the background are known locally as the 'salt and pepper pots'. I know that they are concrete and brick water towers but beyond that I can't find out much about them. I believe that the pepper pot is no longer in use but the salt pot has apparently been restored recently and currently holds and supplies the town with drinking water. It was built in 1927 and, at 165ft tall, held the title of the largest tower of its kind anywhere in Europe, at that time.
